My sister got me the book a while back.. and I must say that it is one of the best graphic novels I've ever read.. It now rests in my wall of cool stuff.. Watching the trailer so far.. I must say that I'm really excited that the Watchmen will coming to the big screen in live action glory..

Here's a really interesting article on The Physical Value of Sound.. It highlights projects by Yuri Suzuki.. who re-twisted the venerable turntable and vinyl LP into new forms that we can experience and feel in a new yet almost familiar way.. especially for us older ones.. Points in case are the Sound Chaser where you take rails made from old records and literally make new tracks that the train will play.. and also the Finger Player where your index becomes the tone arm for the turntable.. feel the groove physically and aurally all in one shot..

1/1 mode Bramble by Ashley Wood is coming along beautifully.. It's amazing how much some olive drab.. some yellow and a lot of rust.. bring out the beauty of his creations..

I didn't think that I was going to be impressed watching a robot folding origami.. But after seing the scale of the actual finished piece.. I was impressed at the dexterity of the pincers.. Imagine what can be done when an 'opposable thumb' model comes out..

I was also very impressed with Muto by Blu.. Ambiguous creatures animated on the streets of Argentina.. I can only imagine the frenzied speed at which all the painting was done.. Tons of painting and painting over.. It looks all to be done in the span of a day.. And to get over seven minutes of action together must have been killer..

I've always liked the form-factor of those old military angled flashlights that have been around since WWII.. and here's a modern take with the First Light Tomahawk.. Fierce and gritty.. blood and guts.. before they became 'kid friendly'.. Here's a true representation of the old-school TMNT action figures.. All in red masks.. the way they should look..

Here's a sneak peek at the Alfa Romeo MiTo Cabriolet.. This mini SD takes on styling cues from it older sibling the 8C.. Both of which were designed by Alfa's new in-house design team in Milan.. Seriously.. I can't wait till Alfa hits North America again..

The British government has issued the new L115A3 Long Range Rifle to their current sniper teams.. With a 25x scope.. larger/longer barrel.. and a larger 8.59mm round.. this new system is accurate up to 1.5km away.. A folding stock makes it look smaller during transport.. and makes it harder to distinguish the sniper from his peers when they're on the other side of the scope.. What makes the Sheldrake Surfboards of interest to me is that they are actually made out of corrugated cardboard.. Normally foam is shaped and sanded.. then wrapped in glass.. Instead.. Mike Sheldrake designed and CNC'd the corrugated cardboard so that it would interlock into a ready shaped core.. Surprisingly.. even without a wood stringer.. the cardboard core retains enough stiffness/flex to perform well in the aquatic arena.. Translucency is also a nice by-product..

A tale of two Servals..

1.. This Serval comes from Switzerland.. and instinctually lays down graffics in a colorful manner.. Check the video for a quick demo..

2.. And this Serval hails from Germany.. It is also known as an Aufklärungs und Gefechtsfahrzeug ("reconnaissance and combat vehicle").. It's based on a Mercedes G-Wagon.. but is 100x tougher.. It's like a Swiss army knife in a all-wheel-drive package.. I guess that's why it's used by Swiss special forces..

Finally met up with my bro who'd been away in Europe for the last little while.. He bought my kid tons of cool stuff.. which a good uncle should do.. but I really didn't expect him to get me anything.. But he did.. Which was really cool..

Both of us are big Alfa Romeo GT fans.. as that's what our dad drove since the late 60's.. And that's what I drove for high school and college.. And so he got me a limited edition die cast 1972 Alfa Romeo GTAJ.. Nice!.. Goes directly on the display case.. T'anks brah..

The Boker Magnum Subcom FB fixed blade and the Boker Magnum Subcom F folder are both small knives that feel big in your hand.. With ridges topside and on the pommel.. The knives feel really good in both regular and reverse grips.. Their diminuative size and weight make them perfect for concealment or backup..

If you live in a small confined space.. this set could maximize your furniture/storage usage.. and still look very nice and clean.. Benches that double as storage boxes.. Bookcases that hide into the floor.. Extra deskspace that rises into display shelves.. Staircase with drawers.. Nice..

I first saw these stacking dolls.. known as matryoshka as a kid watching Sesame Street wayyyyyy back in the 70's.. It was a stop motion short that had me fascinated.. The way one would fit into the other blew my mind away!.. Hey.. remember.. I was a wee lad back then.. Mind still growing.. I only wished they were robots instead of girls with flowers.. This version by Stolichnaya and Poke come a little closer to what I had in mind so long ago..

I think when I have a little extra time this summer.. I'm gonna find a set in a store.. take it home.. sand off the original paint.. and paint them with my own steez.. Yeah.. when I have some extra time.. after all the other projects I have line up.. So many..
