When I was a kid.. I wanted to become an architect.. And I'm still an architect at heart..

So it pleases me to show you some projects from Pompom Arkitekter of Halmstad->Sweden.. They are introducing two new prefab houses.. The Puzzle House and the Yard House.. Clever and bright..

I remember playing with one of these back in the 80's.. However.. this new version of Soundwave actually plays MP3s.. Instead of a cassette for data replay.. it uses an SD card (not included).. And yes it's a fully functional tranforming bot.. Comes in original Spark Blue or iPod White.. You can find one for about a hundred bucks at your local Japanese toystore..

If you get bored playing with it.. You can listen to your favorite tunes instead.. Or vice versa..

I did a lot of driving in the last few days.. An I must say that I am really happy that my car has the DSG (Direct Shift Gearbox) system in it..

First and foremost.. This thing shifts faster than any manual transmission out there.. And this is possible because the DSG comes with two clutches/gearsets.. One for the even gears and the other for the odd+reverse gear.. When one gearset is engaged.. the other is ready to bat.. Shifts are so fast that barely any momentum is lost..

An added bonus is that on downshifts.. The DSG blips the throttle for you (automated 'heel-toe' action).. So downshifts are smooth and perfectly synced to the proper rpm.. And sounds great too..

Check out this DSG demonstration video.. It shows how it can even out drag cars with better power-to-weight ratios!!!.. Even the Drift King's super fast feet can't beat the system.. LOL!..

An added bonus to this system is that when I hit traffic.. Get an incoming call.. or am quickly scanning a playlist.. I can push the gear lever left to switch from Tiptronic mode to Drive mode.. Less sensory overload means my driving stays safer.. Then lever back to the right again when I'm ready to choose my own gears..

Sometimes the tools that create works of art are works of art themselves.. An example of this would be the HP-7 shoulder plane.. On it's own.. it is a beautiful thing to look at.. I love how its form fits into the hands perfectly.. Been in love with shoulder planes since I sliced my finger on one when I was a wee lad..

Fixies have been getting a lot of focus lately on Golgo73.. However.. Here's a very interesting design concept for you to have a look at.. It's the Cannondale ON.. The mono-suspended front is old news with this company.. but the mono suspended rear with integrated hydraulic drivetrain is something never seen on a real-life bicycle.. Did I also mention that this bike folds up into a compact format???..
