Today we look at things made beautifully with wood..

The Tri�ngulo chair by Pieter Maes reminds me of something Charles & Ray would do.. However what differentiates is the sharper more angular lines.. which I like a lot.. The olive grain from the wood contrasting with the textured cream cushion adds as well..

Also lovin' the killer looks of the Black Widow PA recurve bow.. Laboriously glued.. shaped.. sanded.. and epoxied.. Finished with brass inserts and detailing.. The laminated black/red/yellow grain is to die for..

I'm really liking the vibe I'm getting from taking a virtual visit to the Avalon -> Beverly Hills.. Really feelin' the decor.. especially that white chair in the lobby.. And the poolside cabanas.. chill.. Make sure to do the tour fullscreen.. Better yet.. if you're in the area.. visit the place physically.. and soak in the ambience..

This 1974 Sabre light recon tank would be heck'a fun to drive around town.. This British guy bought his own for about $27000.. Brand-new it would have cost him around $989000!!.. The cannon is decomissioned and it uses rubber tracks to make it civilized.. A real head-turner.. Or should I say turret-turner yikes..

Today will focus on three things that are clearly Canadian..

First is the Avro Arrow.. A 1950's supersonic all-weather interceptor that was way ahead of it's time.. Its design and look were a radical departure from what existed at the time.. First to be designed by digital computers and had major parts CNC milled.. First fly-by-wire with force-feedback.. First high-wing design (copied on the F-15, F-22, Su-27, MiG-29, MiG 25 etc.).. First by-pass engine design.. and much more.. See the complete list after the jump.. The sad news is that the project got cancelled due to political pressure from the U.S... and they all got scrapped and not one remains..

Next up is the Project G by Clairtone.. Conceived in the 1960's.. it's design was a big leap from the popular box-cabinet style of the time.. This futuristic design incorporated two aluminum globe speakers flanking a beautifully grained elevated wood cabinet.. Quality materials and craftsmanship gave this set true high fidelity sound.. It was spokespersonned by Frank Sinatra and made an appearance in the movie the Graduate, in 1967.. Truly modern and beautiful..

Also looks like they're re-launching their website this Friday.. April 25th.. Hopefully with more info and photos!!..

And finally.. I got word that M-13 is expanding.. Two new drinks have been added to the mix.. Calm/Detox and Wellbeing.. Along with the original Assistance.. I haven't tried the new solutions yet.. but if they're anything like the original.. then I'm sure that what the label beneath the M-13 logo says will happen.. I think I'm in need of some wellbeing today..

There are those who think that the A-10 Thunderbolt/Warthog is an ugly airplane.. I totally disagree!!!.. The A-10 has to be one of the toughest (function-wise and look-wise) planes of all time.. A unique silhouette.. Titanium armored cockpit.. Triple-redundency.. Armor piercing gat.. and an assortment of bombs and missiles.. This flying tank kicks ass.. Respect..

The Scarlet is the latest video camera coming from the Red family.. This tyke uses their new Mysterium X sensor.. Can handle a 180 FPS burst.. Records onto dual CF cards.. multi-type connections for your taste.. wifi control and more..

Came across this 8Banners Dragon II pinhole camera today.. This leather over aluminum body takes 6x18cm landscape onto film.. Awesome pinhole turret shutter up front for different depths of field and different effects.. Also note the bubble level.. viewfider.. and compass (I'm assuming for calculating rotary panoramics on a tripod without hash marks)..

And lastly for today.. take note of this unfold laptop bag.. One bag -> multiple modes of carry.. This is achieved with its two very different faces.. and its ability to fold in half.. Smartskis..

You've gotta check out these pinhole cameras from Boy Of Blue.. Wild is an understatement.. I love the fact that each one is purpose specific.. And the camera isn't fabricated until the purpose is conceived.. Each part fitting into the specific theme.. Beautiful..

The Aston Martin Rapide is a super-sexy saloon that I can't wait to see hit the streets.. 6 litre V12.. 0-60 in five.. seats four.. Rapide indeed.. Here are a few spy pics to hold you up..

Also from the U.K. is the Lotus Exige S240.. Always a fan of lighter = faster.. with now upped by 20 more horses to 240hp.. and at 2100 pounds.. it now boasts a 8.8 pounds per horsepower.. That means 0-60 in 4.0 seconds.. Also note the larger roof scoop to suck in more air to the engine..
